MillPlus Control Service for European-Built DMG MORI Machines

If your Deckel Maho runs a MillPlus control, you already know how short the list of people who still work on it has become. We're on that list.

Which machines run MillPlus

MillPlus controls sit on Deckel Maho machines built in Pfronten, among them the DMU 70 eV and the DMU and DMC series of that generation. We still see them regularly. One of our most recent MillPlus jobs was a DMU/DMC from Pfronten with a defective power supply (September 2026).

What actually fails

Three patterns come up again and again:

  • Power supplies. The most common MillPlus call we get. The symptom is often a machine that won't come up, or comes up wrong.
  • Encoder cards with the fiber-optic connector. The machine simply stops, with no alarm, or shows an encoder alarm from the first drive. Both point at the card or its fiber link, not the encoder itself.
  • Hard drives. The MillPlus PC uses an IDE drive. It cannot be converted to SATA, so when the drive fails, it needs an IDE replacement. Modern drives don't fit, and that's where many repairs stall.

When the control itself is beyond repair, we replace it. In 2026 we replaced a complete MillPlus control on a customer's machine.

Why MillPlus experience has become rare

Heidenhain no longer builds the MillPlus control. The machines that carry it are getting old. And nobody trains new service technicians on it anymore, so the people who can still work on MillPlus are the ones who learned it when the machines were new.

What we do on MillPlus

Everything. On-site troubleshooting, repair and exchange of MillPlus components, including power supplies, encoder cards and hard drives, and, where needed, replacement of the complete control. All of it alongside Siemens and Heidenhain controls on the same machines.

What to ask before you book a technician

Use these questions with any provider, including us:

  1. Do you actually work on MillPlus? Ask for a plain yes or no. Given how rare the skill has become, the answer matters.
  2. Is the technician factory-trained on this machine? Our specialists are factory-trained and work on European-built DMG MORI machines.
  3. Will the technician diagnose on my floor? Ask whether on-site troubleshooting covers the spindle, scales, pumps, drives and alignment as needed.
  4. Will findings be documented before the next step? You should see what was found before you approve more work.
  5. Is the machine returned to factory accuracy? Ask what that includes. It should cover mechanics and electronics, not only clearing the fault.
  6. Can failed components be repaired or exchanged? Ask whether that includes genuine parts.

Scope: European-built DMG MORI machines

Our DMG MORI service is exclusively for European-built DMG MORI machines, including the Gildemeister and Deckel Maho generations. If your machine was built in Japan or the US, or is another brand, we're not the right call.

MillPlus service FAQ

Do you work on MillPlus controls?

Yes, on-site, including component repair and exchange, and complete control replacement where needed.

My MillPlus hard drive is failing. Can it be replaced with a modern drive?

No. The control needs an IDE drive. We source and fit the right one.

The machine just stops, with no alarm. Is that the control?

Often it's the encoder card or its fiber-optic link. That's one of the first things we check on a MillPlus machine.

Is your MillPlus service available for any machine make?

No. European-built DMG MORI machines only.
