Spinning window
A motor spins an optical-grade disc; centrifugal force throws liquid and debris off the glass continuously.
+ Always-on, no consumables, works through heavy coolant flow, pairs with an internal camera for remote monitoring.
– Requires a powered mount and, for some machines, a retrofit to the viewport.
Air blast
A jet or curtain of compressed air blows across the window to keep coolant and chips from settling.
+ No moving parts on the glass itself; built into some newer machine controls.
– Needs continuous shop air, can struggle with heavy flood coolant, and doesn't stop mist building up over a long cut.
Window protection film
A disposable or peel-away film layer is applied to the window and replaced as it fogs or scratches.
+ Cheapest upfront, no power or moving parts.
– Manual — someone has to notice it's dirty and swap it — and visibility degrades while it's still in place, not just at replacement time.
